One River School of Art and Design
One River School embraces a very simple philosophy: great educational experiences are a function of compelling people teaching compelling concepts in a fun, interactive way. Lifelong Creative Learning is at the center of what we care about, and we deliver educational results through a process that promotes exploration and innovation.
Our Art Programs for adults, teens and kids are designed for students across all skill levels in a variety of media. From our Art Start and Art Rocks Programs to our Adult Advanced Programs, all of our art classes focus on expanding our students' artistic horizons--whether it be through an exploration of different materials, or delving deep into one specific medium.
Our Digital Programs for adults and teens focus on teaching today’s digital tools on the most progressive equipment possible. Teachers at One River are experts in all facets of the digital space, and the educational experiences that we provide will build important skills that boost credentials within the professional digital sphere while enabling other recreational pursuits.
Our Continuing Education Programs are intensely committed to developing core competencies that will help students grow within their current job or develop skills that will allow them to explore a new professional path.
Kids Classes (K-5th Grade):
We offer two kids programs: Art Start for pre-K-ers, and Art Rocks for kids in grades K-5. All classes within these two programs work on a rolling monthly tuition basis. This simply means you can start at any time and quickly engage in a steady variety of projects, each of which usually lasts between 4-6 weeks. This flow of projects keeps kids excited and engaged across the spectrum of artistic strategies.
Art Start 1: for toddlers ages 1-3. Our early education program is designed to foster special connections between parent and child through exploring creativity in a hands-on approach.
Art Start 2: for children ages 3-5 (pre-K). This program provides a progressive early art experience through delivering a developmentally driven curriculum.
Art Rocks 1: for students K-2nd grade. This class establishes a nurturing and hands-on opportunity in which kids are free to explore and experiment. We stimulate imagination while focusing on developing strong observational skills.
Art Rocks 2: for students 3rd-5th grade. This class gives kids an intensive artistic experience across a range of materials and subject matter. We use thematic and material guidelines to establish an exciting context in which to develop strong technical skills.
Teen Programs 6-12th Grade
Our Teen Studio programs are open to students from 6th-12th grade and we offer three types of programs: Teen Art Studio, Teen Digital Studio, and our Teen Advanced Art Series.
Teen Art Studio presents a series of classes for students of all skill levels who are interested in exploring a variety of artistic practices. By varying medium and methodology, we continually push students beyond their conceptual and technical comfort levels to unlock potential and build versatile creative minds.
Teen Digital Studio provides an opportunity for students to explore the latest and coolest digital software and programs that tap into the next generation of digital art, design and media. We study digital photography, web design and development, social media, animation, game design and other creative disciplines that comprise the backbone of today’s marketplace.
Classes are generally 90 minutes in duration and run for seven-week intervals. Our facility includes state of the art Mac computers with the most current software, including Adobe Creative Suite, and professional quality peripherals.
Teen Advanced Art Series is our progressive educational platform for advanced students grades 6-12. This rolling monthly program provides three hours of weekly classes with the goal of developing the next generation of great artists and art-world professionals.
We believe that lifelong creative learning is a fundamental requirement for a rich and complete life. Our adult programs at One River have been designed to focus on both recreational and professional programs to inspire new levels of creative output.

Adult Digital Continuing Education
One River's Continuing Education Program prepares students with the appropriate technical skills and general operating knowledge necessary to work professionally in the fields of Graphic Design, Digital Photography, Online Marketing and Web Design. Perfect for students who want to change careers, increase their capacity in their current field or just develop their skills for personal growth. By developing practical and theoretical skills, our students acquire important concepts for today’s digital environment while developing a body of work that demonstrates their ability and creativity. Upon graduation our students will become advanced in their chosen subject matter and will have new found capabilities across a variety of digital software, concepts and practical experience.
One River has built its Continuing Education Program over a two-year period that included extensive research into the best programs throughout New York and across the country. It is our belief that lifelong creative learning is at the root and heart of all adults and our blend of innovative subject matter, curriculum, faculty and facility all provided close to home allows for a special student experience.
Students must complete a total of 6 eight-week courses, three of which are required and 3 electives that they can customize to their interests and needs. Students are allowed 2 years to complete the program.
