Non-traditional approaches to drawing, including working from dream imagery, inventing realities and experimenting with mixed media will aid our imaginations to create truly unique artworks. Spirit Masks: K-2nd Spirit Masks: K-2nd *Mon - 09:30AM-12:00PM 07/01-07/05* $260 K-2nd Students will use a variety of objects—paper cups, balloons, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, masking tape, and foil—to create a series of paper-mache masks. Students will be able to transform their masks into fictional spirit animals and characters in this great introduction to sculpture. Street Art Painting: K-2nd Street Art Painting: K-2nd *Mon - 12:30PM-03:00PM 07/08-07/12* $325 K-2nd The recent street-art movement marked by artists like Banksy has placed graffiti on the map and grown to be an accepted creative outlet. In this course students will study graffiti as a base for making their own street-art paintings. Students will work on large-scale wood panels using acrylic paint. In this class, students will observe and recreate commonplace objects by taking them outside of their typical context to imbue the objects with new meaning. Starting with story-boarding, we teach students how to build a fun narrative through a series of striking images. You will emerge with a fully developed comic strip or graphic novel exploring subjects of your choice--from super-heroes to self-identity.
