Graduation

The word “graduation” generates a variety of feelings for me. When I was a kid, I couldn’t get where I was going fast enough. But like most people, as you get older, you try to slow down and savor the special moments because you know how fast life ticks by.

We celebrate the most important moments in life in very structured ways: life, death, birthdays and of course, graduations. My son is graduating high school next month and this is a moment that has me reflecting on a lot of things. It also has my wife and I reflecting on become empty nesters this fall and that is another “moment” that comes with a variety of layers to it.

Some of my best friends celebrated their kid’s college graduation last week. I wish all these newly minted adults the joy that they deserve at this critical moment. I talk about creativity as a backdrop for “Monday Thoughts” and as I think back, navigating a career requires confidence, commitment and a creative approach to tackling the world head on.

Here’s to the next wave of talent and a toast to all of the graduates of 2016.
